Our Editorial Mission
Decoriosity exists to help real people — renters, first-time homeowners, and design enthusiasts on realistic budgets — create homes they love. Every piece of content we publish is created with this mission in mind. We believe good decor advice should be honest, practical, and free of the gatekeeping that makes interior design feel inaccessible.
This Editorial Policy explains how we research, write, fact-check, update, and disclose the content you read on Decoriosity. Our goal is to be transparent about our process so you can trust what you find here.
Who Writes for Decoriosity
Decoriosity is operated by Riley, the founder and primary writer. Where guest contributors or freelance writers are involved, their work is attributed clearly and edited to the same standards described in this policy.
We do not publish anonymous content. Every post is reviewed and approved before publication.
How We Create Content
Topic Selection
Topics are chosen based on what our readers ask about, what we are personally working on or have learned, and what we believe will provide genuine value. We avoid covering trends or products simply because they are popular — relevance and usefulness come first.
Research
Before writing about a topic, we research it thoroughly. This may include:
- Reviewing manufacturer specifications, product documentation, and verified customer reviews
- Reading guidance from recognized industry sources, decor professionals, and trade publications
- Testing products and techniques hands-on where possible
- Drawing from our own years of decorating, DIY, and home styling experience
Drafting and Editing
Every post is drafted, then reviewed for accuracy, readability, and tone before publication. We aim to write the way we would explain something to a friend — clear, warm, and free of jargon where plain language will do.
Use of Artificial Intelligence
Decoriosity is transparent about how we use AI tools:
AI-Assisted Writing
We may use AI tools (such as large language models) to help with brainstorming topics, drafting outlines, refining wording, or checking grammar. However, no post is published as raw AI output. Every piece of writing on Decoriosity is reviewed, edited, and approved by a human author who takes responsibility for the final content, ensures factual accuracy, and adds personal experience and perspective.
AI-Generated Images
Some images on Decoriosity are created using AI image generation tools. We use AI imagery primarily for conceptual room visualizations, mood boards, and illustrating ideas where a real photograph is not practical. AI-generated images are not labeled in every individual post, but our use of AI imagery is disclosed here and in our Privacy and Cookie policies.
We do not use AI-generated images to misrepresent real products, real people, or real spaces.
What We Don’t Do
We do not publish AI-generated text without human review. We do not fabricate quotes, statistics, or expert sources. We do not present AI-generated images of products as if they were real product photos from the manufacturer.
Fact-Checking
We fact-check claims that are not common knowledge — particularly any statements about product features, materials, sizes, prices, safety standards, or recommendations. Where helpful, we link to the original source (a manufacturer site, a research study, a trusted publication) so you can verify the information yourself.
If we ever publish an error, we want to know. See the “Corrections” section below.
Editorial Independence and Sponsored Content
Affiliate Relationships
Decoriosity earns income through affiliate partnerships with retailers such as Amazon, ShareASale partners, and HomeDesigns.ai. Affiliate relationships never determine what we recommend. We frequently link to products that earn us nothing because they are the right answer for our readers.
Posts containing affiliate links carry a disclosure at the top. See our Affiliate Disclosure for full details.
Sponsored Posts and Brand Partnerships
If we ever publish content paid for by a brand — sponsored posts, paid reviews, or gifted product reviews — we will clearly label that content as “Sponsored” or “Gifted” at the top of the post, in line with United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines.
We retain full editorial control over sponsored content. We do not publish anything we do not personally believe in, regardless of payment.
Advertising
Decoriosity displays advertisements through Google AdSense and similar ad networks. These ads are served automatically by the network and are not selected, endorsed, or controlled by us. Ad relationships do not influence our editorial decisions.
Updates and Republishing
The home decor world moves quickly — products are discontinued, trends shift, and our own perspective evolves. We periodically revisit older posts to:
- Refresh outdated product recommendations
- Update broken links
- Add new information or images
- Correct errors
When a post receives a significant content update, we update its “Last Updated” date. Minor edits (such as fixing typos) may not be dated.
Corrections
If you find an error in any post — a factual mistake, an outdated price, a broken link, or a misattribution — please tell us. We will investigate, correct the error promptly, and where the correction is significant, note the change at the bottom of the post.
